One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) Radio Range Testing

Reproduced test along bitumen road, at 1.3km, in full sun.

1:15 - 1:45pm, middle of day.
Similar to yesterday. Warm day (estimated 36 degrees C), medium
humidity, some clouds, clear air (rained during previous week, not
smokey or dusty), calm.

Returned to test location along bitumen road, of 12/Jan/07 and 22/Jan/07.



Base Unit	At Waypoint 119, near "Lancelot" mailbox.
		Waypoint 119 = 55 J 0677278, UTM 6525869, 12-JAN-07 08:55
		Base unit = Quozl 1 (firmware Q2B21, software build 239)
		Battery fully charged.
		Base unit placed on roof of vehicle.
		Base unit in full sun.
		Base unit open, ears up, directed at Mobile unit.
				
Mobile Unit	Mobile unit = Quozl 3 (firmware Q2B21, software build 239)
		Battery fully charged.
		Held at James' shoulder height.
		Mobile unit open, ears up, directed at Base unit.
		Used AM radio with ear buds as stethoscope.
				
At 1.3km	"Pinging OK. Signal -87. Noise -89."	
		
Test successful. Repeated yesterday's test at limit of range, in full
sun. Full sun did not affect test.
